Beef and cabbage soup Rendang

Unlike " beef rendang" thick slice beef with thick coconut chili's sauce and cook simmer for long time,this beef and cabbage rendang are soupy dish,and made by cut thinly sliced beef. Ingredients : 1 pound thinly sliced beef ( round eye beef roast ) 1/2 medium  size cabbage 1/2 cup coconut milk 2 tbs vegetable oil 2 shallot 2 clove garlic 2 red chilli's/cayenne pepper 1 inch of galangal 2 bay leave 2 star anise 1/2 tsp pepper+ salt to taste 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1 tbs Beef base 1 tsp sweet soy sauce 5 cup water Preparation : slice beef in to small size/what u prefer cut cabbage rough big chopped set aside,,, chop shallot,garlic,galangal and chilli's until grounded heat oil on big soup pan fry grounded spice ingredients ( shallot etc) until cook or brown add beef base, and the rest of spice ingredients add coconut milk and water add sliced beef ( simmer for about an hour or so,,,after beef is cooked then add ca

Baked Yellow rice

As an Indonesian I love fried rice,I always made fried rice whenever I had leftover rice, but this time instead of fry I bake the rice with vegetables and beef sausage as optional, You can make this rice  dish as vegan-vegetarian dish too,just omit the sausage. I use the beef sausage just to use up leftover but you can use any meat sausage you likes, adding sliced baby bella mushrooms in this baked rice is perfect, I recommended especially for vegan or vegetarian. Fried Calamari tempura

First of all  I would like to say Thank you to my best friend cindy and bridget for a pair of gorgeous plate and bowl, I like it so much,you will see what i create on the plate and i will use the bowl later for sure :) Calamari tempura in tomato spicy sauce Ingredients : 400 gr clean squid with tentacles about 8 pcs 6 oz tempura batter mix ( half package  a picture  bellow) 3/4 cup cold water vegetable oil for fry about 2-3 cups tomato spicy sauce ingredients : 1 tomato 1 shallot 1 clove garlic handful  cilantro 1 tbs olive oil ( chop all sauce ingredients into blender until combine ) no add salt,because tempura batter mix is already had salt in it simmer on the sauce pan for about 3 minutes or until hot preparation: On deep fry pan heat vegetable oil until temperature reach 350 degree F cut  squid into  1/3-1/2 inch  thick rings, use tentacles if you like mix tempura batter with cold water dip squid into tempura batter mix , drop into Hot oil about 8 ring

Banana Rolls

Baked banana roll Ingredients: 2 ripe banana 1 9" pie crusts  2 tbs cream cheese 3 tbs  decorating chocolate 1 tbs melted butter ( this recipe is for 4 banana roll ) for Icing : 1 tbs powder sugar 1 tbs condensed milk 1 tbs caramel sauce Preparation; pre heat oven to 450 F cut banana by two roll it in to  chocolate decoration  set aside roll a pie crusts by square or jut leave the way it is and cut by two,like a in the picture bellow. then,,,,on the pie crusts spread about  1 tsp cream cheese  ( room temperature )  put a cut banana in the top of cream cheese and roll it and fold it on both side,to cover a banana from melted chocolate and cream cheese, then brush with melted butter all around it, put on the bake pan with parchment paper and bake about 10-14 minutes until the crust is golden brown. sprinkles with caramel icing when is still warm,and ready to serve,hot,warm or cold serve with ice cream if you like. Garden Tomato salsa

My little garden is growing :) i had a lot of tomatoes,Thai chili,cilantro and basil need to use them for sure,,,how about simple tomato salsa,,,dipping on the chips or side for nachos :) or topping on pita bread with humus and plan yogurt :)  Is nothing special just a simple garden tomato salsa. Garden Tomato salsa Ingredients 3 fresh tomato /dice 1 jalapeno/chopped 1/2 red onion/chopped 1/2 cup fresh cilantro/chopped 1/4 cup lemon juice 2 tbs olive oil 1 tsp salt preparation : for chunky salsa  mix the first 4 ingredients on the mixing bowl,sprinkles with lemon juice,olive oil and salt and stir or you can use food processor  for a smooth salsa ( what u prefer ) from my little garden :) I freeze the chili's for all year round and shared with friends

Jan hagel cookies

I made this jan hagel cookies so many times, the crunchy almond on top with sprinkle sugar adding sweet and nutty flavor to it, perfect with morning coffee or afternoon tea or snack anytime. or you can make with pandan flavor Ingredients: 1 1/2 stick unsalted butter ( room temperature ) 1/2 cup sugar 2 egg yolk 2 cup flour 1/2 cup sliced almond 5 tbs milk Topping 1 egg yolk + 1 Tbsp milk ( whisk egg yolk and milk ) 1/2 cup sliced almond 1 Tbsp  sugar Preparation: Heat oven on 350 F Beat butter and sugar until soft and fluffy add egg yolk one at  time add flour and sliced almond add milk beat for a while or just stir with spatula until combine sprinkles flour on kitchen board,roll the cookie dough about 1/2 inch thick brush with egg,and topping with sliced almond and sugar put on the baking pan with parchment paper bake about 25 minutes. cool it for a while,and cut in to desire shape ( square,rectangle etc

Creamy corn and chicken soup

Creamy corn and chicken soup serving 2-4 Ingredients: 4 fresh corn on the cab 1 cup cube cooked chicken breast/ 1 boneless cooked chicken breast 2 medium size potato 2 cube chicken bouillon no MSG or 4 cup chicken stock ( what you prefer ) 4 cup water/no water if use chicken stock 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp pepper ( black or white ) 1/2 tsp curry powder 1/2 tsp chili powder pinch of brown sugar pinch of red pepper flake ( optional ) 1/2-3/4 cup heavy cream Preparation : cut corn on the cob,peel potato and cut cube,cut cube cooked boneless chicken breast drop all ingredients to the pan soup add water or chicken stock,and bring to boil on the stove while cooking add the rest of ingredients spice except heavy cream cook until soft,turn of the stove,,,,and ready to puree with hand blender or transfer to food processor while you blend pour heavy cream and blended until combine or pureed. serve with croutons/homemade croutons.                   

Baked strawberry tartlets

I love fresh strawberry in any season, but if I have leftover strawberry it doesn't look fresh anymore, I normally blend with any fruits to make juice or blend with yogurt. This time I had an idea to make a small dessert, strawberry wrapped with pie crust brush with melted butter and baked until crusty or golden brown drizzle with melted chocolate because can't go wrong. Ingredients; - 1 sheet  store bought pie crust - 14 fresh strawberries - 2 Tbsp melted butter Preparation Cut pie crust  round with  cookie / biscuit cutter medium size or depend how large of strawberry One sheet pie crust equal 14 round, brush with melted butter *See a picture above* Then wrap around a strawberry with cut round pie crust *see picture above Then brush wrap pie crust with melted butter one more time Put on the baking pan with parchment paper Bake on 400 F  oven for 12-15 minutes  or until pie crust  golden brown  Melted chocolate - 1 bar 4 oz  semi-sweet cho

Beef Tandori

First of all i didn't know what is tandori/Naan  bread use for,i see some at the grocery store,it's look like kind of pita bread, except tandori is more thicker,that what i think, i see some posting from my fellow food bloger  "My home diary in turkey " citra,,,,thanks for the inspiration.when you posting about this naan bread,its always look and sound YUM to me,,,, :) Then when we were on  vacation in cape cod area,Provincetown,MA we find autentic South African foods,a lot of pita bread with choices and type of salad,so i got lamb pita,  it was really,,,really good,we are back for the second time and i got the same order,indeed :) because we like the foods and the employees was very nice and friendly. fried tempeh with garlic

This recipe is very simple and easy to cook,you can use any kind tempeh that you like with simple ingredients grated garlic,salt and pepper, Can be serve as side dish , appetizer, or on sandwiches. Ingredient; I block tempeh 1/2 cup water 2 clove garlic 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp  white /black pepper 3 Tbsp vegetable oil for fry Preparation: cut tempeh by two to long size, then cut by two / one bock tempeh equal 8 pieces Grate garlic,put in a small bowl add water salt, pepper and garlic marinated about 15 minutes before you cook drain the liquid befor fry Heat oil on the skillet fry about 2 minutes each side or until golden brown or chrunchy  ready to serve on sandwiches or for side dish along with white rice and any vegetables

This vegetables fritter can be made from any leftover vegetables,such cabbage,carrot,beansprout,herbs and add flour and egg to thickened mixed vegetables, seasoned with dry spices/ powder. We call it bala-bala in west Java Indonesia, is traditional street food it can be found easily in the street vendor mostly in West java province Indonesia. Mango pudding

Mango is one of my favorite fruits since I was kid,back home in Indonesia we had varieties of mangoes,Good mango is when we cut and peeled there is no string in it,that what I like, I don't like stringy mango  because is too hard to slice it and if  too ripe is not good either,the good one is  ripe but still firm, anyway it's my personal opinion about mango :) Ingredients - 2 ripe mango - 3 tsp Kosher unflavored gelatin / small package - 1/2 cup water - 1/2 cup condensed milk - 2 tbs sugar - 3/4 cup coconut milk that 's a good one meaty without string :) Preparation : peeled mango and cut/sliced puree mango in food processor or blender and set aside on the sauce pan boil 1/2 cup water until hot (or microwave about a minute ) pour unflavored gelatin to the hot water stirring really well,make sure there is no lump add condensed milk and sugar stir really well until combine and mixing with mango puree  add coconut milk and stir reall
