Steamed and raw vegetables salad with peanut sauce



This Indonesian steamed vegetables salad called gado-gado, mixed  cooked vegetables topping with homemade spicy peanut sauce can be served as appetizer  or you can add fried tofu,tempeh or sliced hard boiled eggs to serves as a meal.
As optional you can prepare  this salad with thinly slice/chopped raw vegetables with this spicy  peanut sauce.




 Ingredients : estimates
- Purple cabbage/ cabbage
- Green bean
- Carrot
- Potatoes
- eggs ( hard boiled egg )

( Basically you can use any fresh vegetable you like,and I normally not measure vegetables on this meal,just use as much as I need  )

Preparation;
Steam vegetables in steamer or bring water to boil,start with boil egg until cooked,wash any fresh vegetables and cut into bite size,when the eggs is cooked, you can use remaining boiled water and drop all vegetables in it,and cook until tender about 5 minutes or so,

"Tip" for raw vegetables you can replace cabbage with any lettuce you like,mix with cucumber and carrot and red onion.

meanwhile if you don't have peanut sauce made,start to make a peanut sauce,while vegetables is cook.


for peanut sauce :
1 clove garlic
1-2 red Thai chili
juice from a lime or 1 tbsp tamarind juice
1 cup unsalted peanut
1 tsp salt
an half inch  fresh greater galangal /1/2 tsp powder greater galangal ( optional)
1 tbsp cane sugar/brown sugar
1/4 cup hot water
( in the food processor or blender until all the ingredients are grounded/ combine, add  hot water as you need for lightness of the sauce   )

Coconut pandan Muffins

Risoles

Rissoles are Indonesian snack, called  risol  (pronounced 'riss-ol'). They are commonly filled with chicken, egg, carrot, common bean, potato, and eaten with  chilli sauce  ( wikipedia ) Can be cook plain without bread crumbs, If use bread crumbs you will need egg wash for glue Coated with bread crumbs Use mashed potato or substitute with flour to thickened chicken mixture.
