This soy based yogurt recipe is not considered dairy free, Because I use two tablespoon of dairy greek yogurt as a starter. To add the flavor I add vanilla bean and maple syrup for light sweetness
*Tips* to make this alternative soy milk based yogurt, make sure you find soy milk that contained only water and soy without any other ingredients.
Ingredients :
- 5 cups soy milk (West life Brand from Walmart)
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons *dairy* greek yogurt
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
Directions:
in boil pan mix soy milk with cornstarch, stir evenly until combine
simmer in low heat, until the temperature reached about 180 F - 200 F
Turn off, and set aside to let it cool until the temperature is down to between 80 F -90 F
Add greek yogurt, vanilla and maple syrup, stir until combined
transfer into a yogurt container, set the time for 8 hours
keep in the refrigerator.
