Fried potato beef patties

I use leftover mashed potato for this recipe, mashed potato mix with cooked ground beef and seasoning  with spices, dip into egg wash, coated with panko bread crumbs and fry them until golden brown. it's perfect for side dish or with vegetables or on the burger buns.

Ingredients :
- 3 cup cold mashed potato/leftover
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt or taste
- 1/2 teaspoon white or black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom seed
- 1/2 teaspoon peri peri pepper rub or red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil for fry

- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Directions :
In medium heat cook ground beef and season with spices ingredients.salt, pepper, garlic, nutmeg,
cardamom and peri-peri or red pepper flakes, cook until brown / welldone
add cold mashed potato, stir and mix until combine, set aside

Meanwhile
make egg wash, whisk 2 eggs  with little bit cold water and set panko bread crumb on the large plate/ container

make round shape patties from seasoned potato beef mixture
dip into egg wash and coat with panko bread crumb

Heat vegetable oil in skillet /fry pan, set in medium high temperature
fry patties until golden brown about 2 minutes each side.

Enjoy !!

Its the wow factor, reminds me of the patties sold in Malay stalls. Love the crispy and crumbly coating. Beef is a taboo for us but certainly there are other types of meat I can consider.

I have never made or tried the combination of the fried potato and beef patties...either leftover mashed potato, or beef, but I love the crunchy flavorful patties you made, Ridwan. Must try soon:)
